University of South Carolina Death COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has confirmed it is investigating a death that occurred Tuesday at an apartment complex near the University of South Carolina’s Colonial Life Arena.
According to officials, SLED was requested by the University of South Carolina Police Department to assist with the investigation into the on-campus death, which took place earlier in the day. Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident have not yet been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
As a result of the investigation, road closures are in effect in the area surrounding Colonial Life Arena. Gamecock Athletics announced that Lincoln Street between Blossom Street and Devine Street is closed until further notice. Authorities have emphasized that there is no ongoing public safety threat at this time.
Gamecock Athletics also advised fans attending Tuesday night’s basketball game to plan accordingly and allow extra time for travel due to the street closures.
